In deciding to publish a magazine that tells the story of Middle Georgia with an emphasis on Monroe and surrounding counties, the partners in FSW Publishing searched for a name and finally decided that Columns was the appropriate name as it represents the architectural columns that are so prevalent throughout the south in both private and governmental buildings. This is particularly so in Middle Georgia. We wanted to showcase the strength of the Middle Georgia that the columns symbolize.

Columns also represents the written words which are read in magazines and other publications. It was decided that it is quintessentially southern and progressive all at once with it’s dual meaning. It aptly describes what our magazine will contain...Stories about Middle Georgia through a collection of feature articles and regular contributions.
